Extra Tour: Alexandria Masterpieces - Underground Museum, Qaitbay Citadel, Pompey's Pillars ($100 per person)
In this tour, our first stop is the Alexandria Underground Museum (Kom el Shoqafa Catacombs). These enchanting underground tombs dating back to the Roman period are filled with impressive architectural details representing the fusion of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman cultures of that era. As you descend the spiral staircase to explore the catacombs, you will feel the mysterious atmosphere of thousands of years of history. After the Alexandria Underground Museum, our next stop is Pompey's Pillar, one of the symbols of the city. This granite column, approximately 30 meters high, was built in honor of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Together with the ruins of the surrounding Serapeum Temple, it sheds light on the grandeur of ancient Alexandria.
We also take a short photo break here before moving to the final and impressive stop of our tour, the Qaitbay Citadel. Built in the 15th century by Mamluk Sultan Qaitbay, this castle stands on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria.
